Company Overview

Spinnaker Coating is a customer-focused company that develops, manufactures, and markets adhesive-coated paper and film constructions for conversion by printers and industrial users into marketing, identifying, promoting, labeling, and decorating applications. Simply stated, we are passionate about delivering the best service in the pressure sensitive industry, bar none! This includes:
  • The support of a team of marketing, sales, technical, operations, and order fulfillment professionals who offer all of our customers product and application expertise and logistical support, as well as fast, reliable answers to their questions and concerns

Company History

The Company was founded in 1928 as Brown-Bridge Mills, by two Troy, Ohio businessmen: Herbert Brown and Perce Bridge. From its humble beginnings as a manufacturer of water sensitive conventional gummed papers and cloths, Brown-Bridge saw its family of products expand extensively over the years, as the Company successfully developed and assimilated new adhesive technologies.

Over its 84 year history, the Company has undergone a series of ownership and business changes; one constant, however, has been the dedication and service orientation of our people:
  • In 1971, Brown-Bridge was purchased by Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the renown paper-based consumer products company
  • In 1994, Kimberly-Clark sold the Company to an investment group, which changed the name in 1997 to Spinnaker Coating, Inc. and began to focus almost exclusively on the manufacture of materials for label converters that utilize pressure sensitive adhesives
  • On March 28, 2002, current senior management, with the support of a private equity group, acquired the assets of the business and commenced operations under the name Spinnaker Coating, LLC. With this change, the Company developed a Mission Statement focused on providing industry-leading service to what we came to call the “underserved” segments of our markets
  • In April of 2006, the senior management team, together with a select group of private investors, secured 100% ownership of the Company
  • In 2007, company-owned regional slitting distribution centers were established in Vails Gate, NY and Lemont, IL, to service customers throughout the Northeast and Midwest. Two additional regional slitting distribution centers were opened in 2012 in Forest Park, Georgia and Brea, California
  • On February 1, 2012, in the most significant and exciting development in our long history, our investors chose to sell 100% of the Company to a newly-created Employee Stock Ownership Trust. This ownership structure will allow current and future Employee Owners, over time, to gain full beneficial ownership interest in the Company – without any personal investment!

The Employee Owners of Spinnaker are excited about the opportunity we have been given. Our expanding product line, in both sheet and roll form, is used throughout the label printing and converting industry in a wide variety of applications, including gift tags, cosmetics, food packaging, bar codes, and a multitude of household and other products. Combined with the industry-leading service we provide to our customers, we strongly believe that the Company and our Employee Owners are extremely well-positioned for a bright and thriving future.

Quality Management System

Many PS label customers have become certified to ISO9000, QS9000, or other similar standards to improve their business practices. Spinnaker has established a Quality Management System modeled after ISO9001:2015 to assure the quality of the products and services provided by us.

Our Quality Management System places emphasis on product quality through the entire material realization process, from conception to delivery. Careful attention is paid to: design and development validation, materials selection and qualification, process controls and performance verifications, and ultimately, the special needs identified by our customers to ensure we provide products that consistently perform at the highest level.

We have elected not to become registered by a 3rd Party Registrar at this time. However, we encourage customers to visit our facilities to see, first-hand, the practices established to provide the quality and service you count upon. Our Quality Manual is available upon request, and a plant visit can be arranged to assure you we meet any quality requirements you might have for a PS Label Supplier.

Ordering via Label Traxx

Spinnaker Coating is pleased that Label Traxxusers can transmit orders seamlessly using this popular business management software developed specifically for the printing industry, by Tailored Solutions. The use of Label Traxx enables Spinnaker’s customers to reduce their order entry time by sending their orders quickly and securely online to Spinnaker Coating, thereby eliminating double entries and greatly reducing the risk of errors. Customers also receive immediate order confirmation when the order is received. As a supplier who is dedicated to providing an “easy-to-do-business-with” kind of service, Spinnaker is very pleased about the partnership with Label Traxx as a way of further enhancing our total service package.

Tailored Solutions, Inc., the developer of Label Traxx, is a software solutions company specializing in user-friendly automated job management software systems for the printing industry. The systems are cross platform, which means they run on Macintosh and Windows operating systems.

Louis A. Guzzetti, Jr.
Louis A. Guzzetti, Jr. has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since its formation on March 28, 2002. Combining legal, corporate development, and business management expertise, Mr. Guzzetti has been a driving force behind a number of growth-through-acquisition strategies and the reengineering and/or consolidation of businesses. His experience includes over 25 years with three public companies as CEO or a senior executive: EnviroSource, Inc.; United Brands (now Chiquita Brands); and, General Host Corporation.
Stuart Postle
Stuart A. Postle, President and Chief Operating Officer, has overall responsibility for the Company's manufacturing, engineering, distribution, and materials management functions. He began his career with Kimberly-Clark Corporation in 1979, where he progressed through a variety of positions in the production planning, purchasing, and distribution functions of its consumer products tissue and envelope converting operations. In 1990, he joined Kimberly-Clark's Brown-Bridge Division, where he gained a broad-based knowledge of the pressure sensitive business, working in distribution, systems, and operations management.
Perry J. Schiller
Perry J. Schiller, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, joined Spinnaker Coating in April 2000. Mr. Schiller is responsible for the financial affairs of the Company, including accounting, taxes, financial reporting, financial analysis, and cash management. The Information Services function also reports to him. Prior to joining Spinnaker, Mr. Schiller spent 13 years with Deloitte & Touche, and subsequently was a senior financial executive with a retailing company and a leasing company.
Lisa Baker
Lisa Baker, Vice President, Merchant Business, is responsible for managing the Company's Merchant Sheet business. Lisa is a long-time Spinnaker employee, serving over the years as a Customer Service Representative, Customer Service Manager, Product Manager, and Account Manager for the Company's large U.S. postage stamp business. In 2005, she joined the Merchant team, where she served as Pricing Analyst, Product Manager, and Director of Marketing, before being promoted to her current leadership role in March, 2017.
Mike Marasch
Mike Marasch, Vice President, Roll Marketing and Sales, is responsible for managing the Company’s Roll business. Mike began his career working in sales and marketing positions for several companies in the chemicals and plastics industries. Most recently, he spent more than four years with the MACtac division of Bemis Company, serving as Sr. Director of Marketing of their Roll PS label business and Technical Tapes where he led efforts to grow the sales and profitability of the unit’s adhesive products.
Braden L. Glett
Braden L. Glett, Vice President, Strategic Improvement, joined Spinnaker Coating in June 2003. He began his career in the pressure sensitive industry in 1982, when he joined the Fasson Division of Avery Dennison Corporation. After spending several years in the financial area, which included responsibility for managing the strategic planning and financial analysis functions, Mr. Glett moved into marketing, where he ultimately became Business Segment Leader, Prime Label Products. In 1998, he was recruited to the position of Vice President of Business Development for Troy Laminating, in Troy, OH.
Jeff Dagley
Jeff Dagley, Vice President, Human Resources, is responsible for handling all HR-related functions, including benefits administration, employee relations, and safety. Starting with Spinnaker in 2000 as a Shift Manager in the production area, Jeff moved into Human Resources in 2003 as Employee Relations Specialist. Since that time, he has worked in both production management and HR positions.
Charley Pollock
Charley Pollock, Vice President, Technology, joined Spinnaker in March 2017. He is responsible for the Company’s R&D, regulatory, lab, and technical consulting functions. Charley has a PhD in Organic Chemistry, and over 20 years of technical experience in specialty chemicals and performance materials, with a focus on all aspects of product development and manufacturing support. He has held leadership positions at several companies, including Avery Dennison’s Adhesives unit.
