Troy, Ohio – December 19, 2005 – Spinnaker Coating has developed Frostbite™ - a freezer grade hot melt adhesive featuring excellent initial tack and ultimate adhesion to flexible packaging and varnished paperboard packaging when applied at freezer conditions; an excellent choice when applied to packaging materials at room temperature and then subjected to -40° F blast freezing conditions; Frostbite adhesive will also adhere to a variety of surfaces despite specific amounts of frost and/or moisture, but testing is recommended. Frostbite should be considered for shipping labels in frozen foods distribution, flash freezing environments, prepackaged frozen foods, institutional milk bag applications, packaged frozen poultry, waxed corrugate, and coupons/booklets on frozen/moist-laden substrates. Also an effective solution when applied at room temperature to highly textured surfaces, wood products, low-energy plastics, and oily surfaces. Frostbite adhesive conforms to FDA 21 CFR 175.105 for indirect food contact, FDA 21 CFR Part 801 for natural latex or dry natural rubber, CONEG, ASTM F963-96a for toy safety, and Hasbro toy safety.
